“Suspected killer of Fr Sob laicize on social media”-atleast that was the update on TeboPost official Facebook page today July 13th 2020.
Fr Benard Asek, Parish priest of St Joseph parish Muyuka and one of the Vicars for the Diocese of Buea has been laicized on social media the fake documents states
According to the communique “signed” by bishop Bibi, the former Vicar General and one time powerful priest of the diocese was laicized on July 4th 2020
Sources at the Bishop’s house say the document is fake and wasn’t signed by the new bishop. It however raises a worrying concerns for the embattled priest and indeed the bishop.
The communique also falsely states that CUIB is now part of CATUC Bamemda and is now under Bamemda ecclesiastical province before mimicking the Bishop’s previous wordings in other lines.
The Bishop’s house is yet to officially deny the news but priests in the diocese have been quick to debunked the news as fake, warning Christians not to fall prey.
One priest who talked to TeboPost this evening July 13th 2020 says the Bishop was surprised to see the fake document and he ( the bishop) forwarded it to him.
But it raises serious questions about the state of affairs of the diocese of Buea which has been in the spotlight recently following the CUIB scandal
Observers are pointing accusing fingers at detractors and supporters of former Board members but TeboPost cannot independently verify the source of the sabotaging information
While Fr Asek has appeared before the judge recently in Buea court as one of the main suspects of the murder of former Catholic education secretary for the Buea diocese, REv Fr Nougi Alex Sob, he still remains a priest in the diocese and currently serves as the parish priest of St Joseph Parish Muyuka.
With respect to CUIB, the status of the University has not changed and it still remains the property of the Buea diocese
Observers say some people are bent on promoting a smear campaign against the bishop for making much needed changes in the diocese recently, hurting some people who had taken the diocese hostage in the process.
Priest of the diocese had recently given their support to the bishop and his works during a requiem mass at the uncompleted cathedral site last week.
And Christians of the diocese have welcome his changes with much excitement and supplications
