“Idle” South West Regional Council Executives Begin Fighting Each Other As Government Ignores their Existence Since Election.
In a sharp rebuke at Yaounde few weeks ago, Chief Atem Ebako, President of the South West House of Chiefs attacked government and rightly so for window dressing in creating Regional Councils and House of Chiefs.
He said he has been idling in his office. Seemingly, that special status is only on paper and government is not willing to decentralize power.
He added that Yaounde has completely hijacked the voices of power and Cameroon cannot be run with slogans.
That was the truth, Regional Councils have failed to take off and it might take another 25 years.
But in a shocking twist of event, the President of the South West Regionalegional Executive Bakoma Elango Zacheus comes to the defense of Yaounde and indirectly attacks Chief Ebako.
In a communique released today, the former SDO says only his office has the right to issue any statement regarding the state of affairs of the Regional Assembly in the South West Region.
He said any statement that does not come from his office is null and void. He went ahead to call on the people of the South West to remain calm and trust in Paul Biya.
In his communique, he also stressed that the government has taken appropriate measures to ensure the effective takeoff of the council, begging the question why it’s still not up running.
