Permissible Use Policy
Africa Must Change is a place that empowers people of Africa and friends of Africa to be able to express themselves freely without constraints and to contribute to the growth of the world’s knowledge. We are convinced that Africans have residues of unanswered questions welling up in them and yearning for expression, but repression and suppression has crept deep into their bones and if they don’t feel safe, they can’t contribute to the liberation of Africa, to knowledge or listen to one another’s point of view. To truly liberate Africa, knowledge and education are primordial. The following rules are intended to help everyone on the Africa Must Change platform to have a safe experience:
Be Courteous, Be Respectful yet be Frank, be Straightforward
Engage with Others in a Constructive Way
You will have to assume that everyone on the Africa Must Change platform is here to make the platform a great resource with diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and opinions. It is natural and OK to disagree, but please be courteous, respectful, and considerate to other posters and contributors. If the Moderator knew it all, he would have made it a one man show, and claim to answer all your questions but this would lead to individualism.
No Hate Speech
Have we not experienced enough of hate as Africa? Have we not tasted enough of external and internal hate that has refused to go away from us? Are we not at each other’s throats every single day, with machetes, guns, and everything? Are we not witnesses to the effects of divide and rule? Therefore, let us be clear here, Africa Must Change is a place for courteous discourse and will not tolerate content that attacks or disparages an individual or group based on race, gender, religion, nationality, ethnicity, political group, sexual orientation or another similar characteristics. Any generalizations about pertinent topics should be phrased as clearly and frankly as possible yet as courteously as possible.
No Harassment & Bullying
Colonial masters harassed and bullied, the West harasses and bullies, social media owners harass and bully, regimes harass and bully, the rich harass and bully, yet we want to make this clear. Abusive and insultive behaviour directed towards private individuals is simply not allowed. Repeated and unwanted contact constitutes a form of harassment. Content should not make threats against others or advocate violence, including self-harm.
Respect the Rights of Others
Identity & Deceptive Activity
