Rice scandal overcrowds coronavirus fight in Cameroon
Reports of 4000 bags of rice donated by ORCA, a supermarket in the country to help government fight coronavirus has disappeared
According to the authoritative French Daily newspaper ‘Le Jour’ the bags of rice never reached their intended destination.
Public health minister insist the bags of rice were distributed to all regions but reports by the paper say Yaounde governor’s office seem to be the only office which received a small quantity and many mayors and city mayors in the center region say they have never seen any rice
He tweets “To make this clear to all, the 4000 bags of ORCA rice have been fully distributed and sent since APRIL 29, 2020, to the 10 Regional Governors, with all the necessary landfills.”
The rice scandal is now dominating social media with many calling for authorities to produce the rice and ensure it reaches the intended population
